Walking the Red Road
Red Road Wellness was founded to share the botanical heritage of the Sahaptin peoples of the Pacific Northwest — beginning with Wild Apán, the Tawtnúk mushroom used in traditional wellness practices for generations. We offer these ingredients with the same respect for their origins that inspired us to find them.

The Red Road Philosophy
Walking the Red Road means dedicating yourself to a life of service in every opportunity that life presents. It is a path of purpose — where each encounter becomes a chance to give, to support, and to uplift others on their journey.
This philosophy guides everything we do. We don't simply offer products; we offer ourselves in service to your wellness. Every formula, every article we publish, every conversation with a customer is an opportunity to honor the natural gifts we've been entrusted to share.
When founder Thomas Tovar encountered the Tawtnúk mushroom and learned its place in Sahaptin wellness traditions, the response was simple: share it — honestly, carefully, and with complete respect for where it comes from and who taught us about it.
"Pure products. Pure intentions. Everything we make is exactly what it says it is — nothing added, nothing hidden."
Where This Tradition Comes From
Red Road Wellness was founded by Thomas "Bear That Paces Back and Forth" Tovar, who received authority to share the botanical knowledge of Wild Apán through the Native American Church network. Thomas serves as the first Principal Stone Carrier of Mitákuye Oyás'iŋ Chapter of the New Haven Native American Church, a 501(c)(3) organization. Full lineage documentation and legal authority are publicly available at AllAreRelated.org.
The botanical knowledge of Apán — known in Sahaptin as Tawtnúk, and also as Shiaqga — was transmitted through the NAC network and is shared here with the full awareness that Indigenous knowledge carries authority, responsibility, and lineage. We offer these ingredients in service, not as proprietors of tradition.
Red Road Wellness LLC is a commercial wellness company. The New Haven Native American Church is a separate 501(c)(3) religious entity. These two organizations are legally and operationally distinct.
What We Stand For
Four commitments that shape every decision we make — from how we source ingredients to how we write about them.
Wild-Harvested Sourcing
Wild Apán (Tawtnúk) is sourced from its natural Pacific Northwest forest habitat — not grown in a lab or on grain. Wild-harvesting preserves the full phytochemical complexity that only develops in living forest ecosystems over time.
Research-Backed Education
We publish what the science says — clearly, honestly, and with appropriate context. Our Research Library, Ingredient Guide, and Wellness Blog give customers the information they need to make their own informed decisions about supplementation.
No Fillers. No Synthetics.
Every ingredient in every formula is there for a purpose. We use whole-food botanical extracts, organic essential oils, and solvent-free preparation methods. No artificial binders, fillers, or synthetic additives of any kind.
Service Before Sales
The Red Road philosophy is one of service: to offer something of genuine value to the people we encounter. We're here to support your wellness practice — not to pressure a purchase. Our 120-day guarantee reflects that commitment.
Our Quality Standards
We make specific, verifiable claims about how our products are made. Here's exactly what we mean by "quality" — not marketing language, but concrete preparation and sourcing standards.
Fruiting Body Extraction
Apán supplements are made from the whole mushroom fruiting body — the cap and stem that grow above ground — not mycelium cultivated on grain substrates. Fruiting body extracts consistently contain higher beta-glucan concentrations and a broader polysaccharide profile.
Wild-Harvested Integrity
Apán (Shiaqga) is sourced from its native Pacific Northwest habitat — not cultivated indoors. Wild-harvested fungi develop more complex bioactive profiles than farmed alternatives, shaped by environmental stress, natural substrates, and seasonal growth cycles.
Organic Essential Oils
All botanical essential oil ingredients — black cumin seed, sacred frankincense, cinnamon bark, peppermint, lemon — are sourced at organic grade from verified origin regions. We disclose the specific botanical species and country of origin for each.
Full Ingredient Transparency
Every product lists its complete ingredients. There are no hidden compounds, proprietary blends that obscure what's actually in the bottle, or marketing language that substitutes for real information. What you see on the label is what is in the product.
Our Educational Philosophy
We believe you should know exactly what you're putting in your body and why — including what the research says, what it doesn't say, and where claims end and opinion begins. That's not a legal disclaimer; it's a core value.
Our Research Library presents peer-reviewed science on the ingredients in our formulas — not cherry-picked abstracts, but honest overviews with appropriate context about study types, populations, and limitations.
Our Ingredient Guide goes deeper on individual botanicals and compounds: what they are, why researchers have studied them, and how they fit into a thoughtful wellness routine. Every page includes a clear FDA disclaimer.
Our Wellness Blog covers practical wellness topics — morning routines, sleep and immune balance, mushroom science — written to educate, not to sell. We publish this content because we believe an informed customer is a better customer for everyone.
We do not make disease-treatment claims. We do not fabricate credentials or manufacture authority. When we reference research, we cite the study type, context, and scope. We use careful language — "supports," "studied for," "observed in laboratory settings" — because accuracy matters more than persuasion.
